WHAT IS CLINICAL PILATES?
Every person’s biomechanics and movement patterning are all slightly different. And all sports and work require varying skills and muscle activation. So when it comes to injury prevention and skill development, your particular needs are going to differ.
Clinical Pilates, either performed one-on-one or in a small group setting, aims to correct every individual’s biomechanics by increasing core strength, stability and flexibility.
“In 10 sessions you’ll feel the difference, in 20 sessions you’ll see the difference, and in 30 sessions you’ll have a whole new body.”
HOW DOES CLINICAL PILATES WORK?
With Pilates, you train the core muscles around your spine. The focus of Pilates is solely on you, and Diana will make sure that you are maintaining the best technique possible. With that, you can recover from your condition as soon as possible.
Pilates exercises are aimed at the appropriate level for you and your pain and are progressed when possible and tolerated.
HOW DO THE CLASSES WORK?
Diana will usually ask you to come in as a one-on-one private session first. This session will involve a biomechanical assessment so that she can get a clear understanding of how your body moves. Diana may ask you about any recent injuries and work on some goals with you. If appropriate, she may also spend some time with you on the Pilates reformer to gauge further understanding of your movement.
Following the initial consultation, you may need a few one-on-one sessions to help you learn or re-learn how to move correctly and with control. Diana will supervise you very closely to make sure you are performing the exercises correctly.
Once you gain confidence in your core stability and learn the fundamentals of Pilates, Diana will advise if you are ready to commence with small group classes. These classes have a maximum of three people and are very focused on the individual.
Diana will walk around and make sure you are moving through the exercises correctly and with control. Classes are booked online through the website, inside the clinic or via our App.
